Why choose a Lightboard SUP

  • Speed + performance — Lightboard SUP constructs their boards using a special “UD Prepreg Carbon Hollow Construction,” with layers of unidirectional carbon fibre around high-density foam, cured under pressure and heat. That means strokes transfer power more directly into forward motion, with minimal flex or wasted energy.

  • GREAT balance of stability and speed — All Lightboard SUP hull shapes and rockerlines are CAD-designed to balance first-stability (so you don’t wobble) with narrow-waterline speed thus reducing drag.

  • Handling mixed water conditions — The design with optimized tail, bottom contours, and special one way drainage-valve system helps the board handle flatwater efficiently but also deal incredibly with chop or wind waves.

  • Lightweight yet durable construction — The carbon-sandwich structure makes the board lighter than many traditional dense-foam + epoxy boards, while maintaining strength.  Most boards come in at the 8.5kg weight range.

  • Eco-friendly manufacturing  — The “Prepreg” build avoids wet lamination, uses less excess resin, and skips a styrofoam core. This makes it less harmful for the environment and safer for workers during production.

  • Professional / racing-ready design (if you want to go fast) — Lightboard boards are often marketed toward serious paddlers and racers: the design philosophy is more performance-oriented than casual recreation but can still be used for everyday use.

? Who it’s best for

  • Paddlers who care about efficiency, speed, and performance (e.g. racing, long-distance touring and cruising).

  • People who want a light but rigid board that still tracks well and handles mixed water conditions (flat water, chop, light waves).

  • Those who appreciate higher-end materials and construction.

  • Paddlers who want a board that behaves more like a “serious” performance craft — less like a bulky recreational SUP, more like a sleek racing/touring machine.
