Caring for your outrigger canoe, surfski or stand up paddle board

Caring for your outrigger canoe, surfski or stand up paddle board

OC1, OC2, Surfski or Hollow SUP Race Boards

1 - ALWAYS check your breather vents for blockage.  When storing release the vent plugs.

2 - Store your equipment on racks covered with padding or pool noodles.  Always tie down your equipment when stored outside.

3 - Wipe down your OC, Surfski or SUP after each use.  This helps keep the equipment in better shape but also helps you identify anything that may need to be tended to before it becomes an issue.  If possible rinse down with fresh water the steering cables, rudder, pedals (basically any moving parts).

4 - Inspect the cables and cords to ensure they are not worn.  Replace them BEFORE you need them and find out they are worn out.

5 - Store your DRY equipment in bags or covers and do not store in direct sunlight.  The mesh openings on surfski/oc bags does allows sunlight in and boards in race bag covers still get hot.

6 - When possible try not to go from one extreme temperature to another immediately.
